Tribecar, a Singapore-based short-term car rental company, has increased its fleet fivefold in the last six months, according to a report by the Strait Times.
Launched in March, Tribecar started with 23 cars and is now up to 120 cars, says the report. The rental company charges as little as $2 an hour for a car rental.
“Our ambition now is to have a car in every car park in Singapore, up from our initial target of having one at every other MRT station,” Charlene Kee, Tribecar’s business development manager, told Straits Times.
Tribecar’s fleet consists of Toyota Altis sedans, Mitsubishi Lancer sedans, and Toyota Wish seven-seaters, says the report. The rental rate is the same for the Wish as it is for the sedans. The vehicles can be driven into Malaysia.
Tribecar hopes to reach a fleet size of 1,200 vehicles in the near future, says the report. Initially, it was aiming to reach 500 cars by the end of the year but that target may not be reached in time.
